SANDRA DOUGLASS MORGAN (1978- )

 
Sandra Douglass Morgan is an attorney and executive currently serving as the president of the Las Vegas Raiders football team. Morgan was born on April 10, 1978, in Las Vegas Nevada. Her father, Gilbert, is African American, and her mother, Kilcha, is Korean. She attended Eldorado High School, and graduated in 1996. Morgan then enrolled in the University of Nevada, located in Reno, graduating with a BA in communication and political science in 1999. She then attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law, and graduated in 2003.

From 2005 to 2008, Morgan was the litigation attorney for The Mirage Hotel, and from 2008 to 2016, she was the first African American to hold the position of city attorney for North Las Vegas. In 2019 Morgan joined the Nevada State Athletic Commission and the Nevada Gaming Commission. She was the first African American to chair the Nevada Gaming Control Board, when appointed by then Governor Steve Sisolak in 2019.

Morgan has been Counsel for the law firm, Covington & Burling LLP since November 2021, and runs her own consulting firm, Douglass Morgan LLC. In December 2021, Morgan was named Vice-chair of the Las Vegas host committee for SuperBowl LVIII, scheduled for February 2024 the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

On July 7, 2022, the Las Vegas Raiders announced Morgan as the new team president. This marks Morgan as the third female and the third African American, but makes history as the first African American woman in NFL history to become team president. Source: BlackPast.org
